| DCU helps territories valorise their assets in three capacities: Vision DCU helps cities and regions identify their comparative advantage within a regional and international context through sound analysis. DCU designs unique territorial visions that build on inherent strengths and identify opportunities for social, economic, and urban growth. At times clients request these strategies to be combined with the development of an identity programme that will help a territory better communicate its advantages. Design DCU works with policy makers, investors and technical teams in transferring a strategic vision to a physical setting, and understanding how guiding principles cascade over critical issues which shape the territory. DCU produces physical master plans and urban design schemes which analyse the urban fabric to identify land availability and understand its best use; determine historic structures that merit preservation, are suitable for reuse, or reveal opportunities for replacement; and articulates innovative programme ideas that contribute to a project’s economic sustainability. Advisory DCU conducts comparative research, undertakes assessment missions and acts as a scientific advisor in preparing content for conferences, workshops and other events that provide a project with an initial impetus and a critical mass of expertise. DCU can work closely with local stakeholders, articulating the agenda of development councils, main street programmes, and exploring linkages between private and public sectors. |
